Air - Sesto Calende 1994

Under The Bridge has been one of the first graffiti jams I’ve been. Graffiti Writing conventions were starting in Italy exactly around 1994-1995 as the movement was growing bigger and bigger. Together with my friends Yazo and Kayone, we painted some small pieces – spaces available were tiny – with just few colors. Anyway, the overall vibes were great and we had a good time. Some people we met there for the first time, are still good friends right now: can you ask for more?

Lei by Airone - Spray on canvas, Milano 1991

The first time I painted on a canvas it was unexpected. Moreover in 1991 I had never seen any canvas painted with graffiti although obviously I imagined that New York’s pioneers were dedicated themselves to that profitably. And with profit I do mean only: they gained money. To me, it was not clear what other reason could there be for desiring to paint on a canvas rather than on a train or a wall, surfaces visible to everybody as opposed to a canvas that would remain closed between some private walls. What old school writers in NY were doing was something completely acceptable: after all, this art was invented by them and there was notthing to point out if they tried to live by selling paintings. Instead, that same thing was not obvious when applied to European writers and to me, like to many others of that time, it seemed a bit ‘of betraying the true spirit of Writing.

Nice day of painting with many friends and great stylers from all over Italy.
Much thanx to Sara Allevi, youth center “Poliedro” and Cooperativa Sociale “Il Ponte” for making it possible.

        Airone Thero - Milano 2002

I had a permission for this wall in Via Anassagora just for a couple of years. Maybe the wall wasn’t the best one ever but it was a big long one and you know what?!? It was a Milano’s subway yard surrounding wall… so it often happened that police suddenly arrived in full forces and didnt believe it was legal even with a signed piece of paper in my hand… some funny moments.

Airone - THP Crew @ Stadio Street Players - Ippodromo Milano Graffiti 2013

Sometime during a convention not having a sketch helps keeping it fresh!
This event named Stadio Street Players was managed by my friend KayOne and it has been hosted on the Ippodromo (racecourse) of Milano walls, on the road to world famous San Siro Meazza soccer stadium. All the pieces are still up till nowadays. One beautiful sunny day with many friends from all over. Check out here some more images from that day!

I just had the great privilege of being photographed with some of my friends by Marina Alessi. Her newest project and exhibition is about families (all type of families!) and she kindly wanted us to join it: how to refuse?
This is the result (but hey, that luxury paper print I’ve seen at the exhibition looks so much more delicious…)
